Yay, Pedal!

Got a pedal from Cosmo (no David, not a drum pedal… an effects pedal)! It makes things sound SO much better on electric guitar. Here’s a sample of a song I plan on recording soon, Cliffs of Dover, by Eric Johnson. I’m only uploading the .wav cause it’s only part of it (and yes it is the REC05.wav file).

American Debate in Sony Center

Last night (May 29th) some students from RHHS watched an American debate in the Sony Center featuring Newt Gingrich, Glenn Beck, and Richard Gephardt.

It started off horribly boring. Everyone commented on it afterwards, and agreed that the beginning was far too long. So after they bored us to hell, there was finally some action as an interesting band came up to play before the debate started. Finally, after waiting for a time longer than the debate itself (debate was about 1 hour, while the beginning was about 2…). Many issues were presented there, and although they all agreed on most of them (and they all brought up right-wing points which I just wanna go and yell at them for) it was very informative. Newt, Richard, and Glenn all agreed that the times we are living in are the “most dangerous times yet,” while, last year there was the least amount of homocides worldwide for thirty years. We are probably living in the safest times in the last few decades would be my view, and a left-wing view. They also went on to state that we should focus on putting pressure on Iran and the dictators there, and even went as far to say that if they do not America should invade Iran. Well, we see how that has turned out (Iraq… and they consider it a success???). Then again, America invaded Iraq because of 9/11 while nearly all of the terrorists were from Saudi Arabia. Makes so much sense (well probably to Bush). One thing I agreed on, was their comments on the environment where they said that we need to create further incentive for non-gas powered vehicles. One thing of that which I support - the gas tax mentioned, but I also do not believe the second point brought up - where as America would go and dig for oil in the Rockies where they supposedly have large reserves (not entirely sure as I am not an expert at the Rockies and oil).

All in all, it was worth wasting time and not studying for the French test. The food was great.

Eurovision Song Contest 2008 Semi Finals

This year’s ESC is being held in Belgrade, Serbia. The Semi-Finals are on May 20 and 22. Basically for those people who don’t know what it is (a.k.a. anyone who’s not European) it is basically representatives from countries across Europe playing their song (usual Indie musicians), and a winner is declared annually. Every year there are different representatives. For Serbia, this year it is Jelena Tomašević, playing her song Oro. Here is a video for it.

This is a better one in my opinion in 1989, by the Yugoslavian representative.

Or my favourite by a former-Yugo entry, last year’s Serbian winner

Električni Orgazam Hit It Off In US

The Yugoslavian rock band toured the US for the first time! It was a big hit for them, and as usual, they were awesome. While the videos on Youtube are quite horrible, I’ll post two videos -> one of part of a live song, and the other of the whole song.

Igra rock’n'roll cela jugoslavija!

Smoke On The Water (Psychadelic Version) Recorded

Finished yesterday (see previous post). It’s funky. Has deterioration from the beginning where it starts out normal, then it has restoration near the end. And no… I wasn’t on drugs.
